There are similarities in the syntax that make it easier for Java people (like me) to find their way into the language. Also, Scala is somewhat hybrid. Thus you can restrict yourself to the object oriented features of the language, but you should not. Its real powers come with the functional programming features, but that is also where the huzzle starts: Thinks are getting complex, but interesting.
